Earlier this day I came to the office, cloudy with rains, and first news I saw was the shooting at Cupertino. Knowing that the shooters was still on the loose, I kept checking on more news trough out the day. A little bit in towards evening, I started to see a rumor about Steve passed away, but soon it was said as a mistaken report, then my coworkers and I went to take a break and I told the false news how surreal it would be if he really passed away today. Then as soon as I came back, I went to check more news but I was surprised to see more major news sites wrote about his death. But it ended soon enough with his portrait displayed at apple site.

I don't see myself as a big apple fan but it's strange that I feel the lost slowly sink in.

I'm grateful for Steve Jobs. For his vision and products. And personally because of him, I could have Mumuja, I could make we are hungry app and more apps in the future.

Baking a real macaron!

Appropriate title after I just 'baked' a macaron illustration lol.

I tried to bake macarons inspired by Pierre Hermes's Ispahan macaron. This macaron uses a combination of rose, raspberry, and lychee. I think Pierre Hermes put the rose flavoring on the shell, but I only put the rose flavor into the buttercream. I used canned lychee, but the raspberries are fresh! :) It was really nice to bite into the cookie and taste the different texture of buttercream and slice of lychee fruit.

I've been having some obsession in making macarons lately, so I thought painting this illustration was quite appropriate.... (..off course I have to add some random cute animals...) Rejected Registration System

One of my early project in Gaia~~ I was told to make some background arts.
The first 4 panels were totally being rejected, since they didn't represent any of Gaia towns (I just made them up.. orz)

then I made these layouts with Barton Town buildings, but they also didn't get trough... orz, since it felt too childlike with those pastel and bright colors, but they still used the buildings asset with different layouts and desaturated the colors (i think they used it for comic bg too sometimes)

I still have more of these buildings 4-views drawing. Might post it sometimes later~

I barely draw any fan art, but I played this game back in high school, and now I played it again the girl's version on PSP. So......addicting.... I like harvesting my crops >< while enslaving the sprites mwhahaha. Here's my tribute for the game, and I'm entering it for the Natsume contest too :p wish me luck.......

I used a mix medium of watercolor, oil wash, pencil colors and photoshop. My teacher just taught this technique in class so I was trying it out, quite a failure if I don't use any photoshop retouching :( I like the texture of these mediums, I should practice them more often...

btw..it's still a nice weather outside despite it's fall(?)

I think by only showing the girl alone, not having a companion, makes the message more powerful; that she finally found her lost one even she had to cross the furthest distance on land alone.

For the past several months, I have been busy making a website with my friend, I'm the UI and QA person while my friend did all the programming and as the idea person. There are only 2 people on the team. But we finally launched the website last week!

The idea of the website is about making a data comparison about anything, but as you can see the site is still a crawling baby, we only have several users which consist of our friends and family. Definitely not enough to make it grow strong and become a real man. Lol anyway, I was never really into designing an interface for a website before, but I have to admit that I had fun designing this website, and being part of the entire process.

NOW! I will hold a contest, not necessarily an art contest per se, but it could be about one.

CONTEST

WHAT
The contest would be about making comparisons or data sheet in [link]. The topic is open and free for everyone.
You could make a comparison about anything you can think of, be creative, compare something that matters to you, or simply just making a record of something that you like.

EXAMPLES

It's an USB toy Owl, you hook it up to your USB port, and the owl would wink and tilt his head once in a while. It's so tiny~~, (note: I have a rather small hand)
You could hang it on the laptop screen using the plastic clipper or you could set it on the tree trunk. aaaghh, I shall love you forever tiny owl~~~ <333333

Somen and beef

Lately, I've been watching this cooking show called Docchi No Ryouri at crunchyroll.com
There's this episode about ramen, aghh it looked so freakinnn good T_________T *watching it late at night was such a bad timing ; 3 ;
So the next day, I just had to make my own noodle bowl, I didn't have ramen though.. so I used somen instead with others ingredient that I had. They used pork on most ramen, but I only had beef, so it became beef somen. :p

hehe the egg was raw, but it cooked as I poured the hot soup base. I used chicken stock, sesame sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, fish oil, chilli sauce, salt and bit of sugar :p For the beef, I stirred fried the beef with garlics, soy sauce and thick soy sauce (the sweet kind.) hmmmm me likee.

Next time I'll make some curry ramen <333>

the earthquake..

There was an earthquake in San Jose around 8pm....
It was not a huge one I guess, 5.6Mag. but since my place was really close to the source, I really felt it, and living on the second floor apt didn't help either.

At first you only hear noises, and things start to shake a little. I thought it was the train, but then the shaking got stronger and I looked at the window, the blinds were shaking, everything.. and it made the worst horrible sounds, things start falling, and you could hear the noise from the upper floor too..., and I felt like I almost fall off the chair..

it was horrible.. I was scared, really scared... it seemed like it would never stop and it just kept getting worst...

Lately, I got a lot in my plate... it goes around and around in my life, things that keep my mind spinning in an unknown direction, news and fact that kept on knocking one after another to the door that I do not wish to open. a practice using 1 point perspective

Those fishes are so ugly that it freaked people out and you know how fear would work on some people. Those people erased them. But they don't want to waste anything in this world, it's all about the money you see, so they decided to open this 'specific' fish market. Even early in the morning, nobody would even think about stealing the fishes, what for? they are so ugly and dead.

I was testing a new brush in photoshop cs2.
Rough Round Bristle 1 (the 3rd from the bottom)
It was kinda hard to control the edges, but it gave a nice painterly look.

the purpose of this exercise is to learn about the the relationship between light, core shadow, reflective light, and cast shadow. The objects are simple, but it was hard to keep the relationship flow of all the objects. You can see that the sphere has the most broad contrast, while the cube has the less contrast.

I kept getting charcoal smudge all over my face and my nano :p
